Mr. Harrell had served two terms as mayor of Winnfield and was serving as chairman of the Winn Parish Democratic Central Committee at the time of his death. He was a member of the First Baptist church and a veteran of World War II. He was a former member of the Winn Parish Police Jury, and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Rotary Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 3800. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Winnfield with Tommy Haralson and Roy Moore officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mildred Harrell of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey Jelks, Ruston, Mrs. Wayne Moore, Winnfield; five brothers, Hovey Harrell, Pat Harrell and Marvin Harrell, all of Winnfield, Paul Harrell, New Orleans, Jimmie Harrell, Baton Rouge; one sister, Mrs. Melton Fleniken, Mansfield; and one grandchild.
