Funeral services were held Monday, April 14, with Dr. D. L. Dykes, pastor of Shreveport Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery. Hayes was the oldest living member of the First Methodist Church of Shreveport. A native of Coushatta, Hayes had lived in Shreveport for more than 60 years. He was a retired timber buyer who at one time was associated with the Grace Logging Company of Shreveport when it cut timber in Winn Parish, L. Rickerson of Winnfield recalls. He is survived by two daughters, a sister, and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
