M. Lawrence, in Bernice at 1:30 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 1948, after an illness of almost two years. Funeral services will be conducted at the Lawrence home in Bernice Friday at 3:30 p.m. with burial in the Shiloh Cemetery near Bernice. Buddy Heard was associated with the People's Hardware in Winnfield for more than thirty years. When he first came to Winnfield from Bernice, his home, he was connected with Gibson's Dry Goods Store. He was a member of the Bernice Baptist Church, the Knights Templar and Shriners, and was a veteran of World War I. Following a light stroke 20 months ago, he left Winnfield, and spent some time in the Alexandria Veterans Hospital before going to Bernice. Surviving are one brother, Joe R. Heard, Winnfield; and two sisters, Mrw. W. M. Lawrence, Bernice, and Mrs. C. F. Fleichel of South Carolina. He was a cousin of Mr. W. E. Heard of Winnfield.
