A. Head, about fifty years of age, who suffered the rare disease of Rocky Mountain Fever, died Saturday night at a local clinic. Funeral services and burial were held Monday morning at Sikes. Mr. Head is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Royce cole of Sikes and Mrs. Virgil Cole of Winnfield. Mr. Head is the second Rocky Mountain Fever victim in Winn Parish with the past two years. According to reports only twelve cases of this rare disease have been reported in Louisiana and two have been in Winn Parish. The disease, which is caused by the bite of a tick, is not contagious, doctors say. Mr. Head had been ill approximately three weeks. The nature of his illness was confirmed by the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Maryland.
