E. Heard, 87, Pioneer Resident, Dies Funeral services for Mrs. W. E. Heard, 87, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. W. R. Gage officiated. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers of Winnfield. She was the widow of the late W. E. Heard, long time owner of People's Hardware. She died unexpectedly Friday, November 28, 1969 in an ambulance enroute to a local hospital. She was a native of Memphis, Tenn., but had lived in Winnfield for 70 years. She was a charter member of the First Presbyterian church and a member of the Palestine Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as secretary for 50 years. She was also a member of Colonial Dames and Daughters of the Confederacy and a member of the Winnfield Garden Club. Survivors include three nieces, Mrs. Jack Shelton and Mrs. Clyde Wentz of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Hazel Nelson Warren of Shreveport, and one nephew. Pallbearers were Robert Heard, Frank Shaw, Lloyd Warren, Jr., Tracy Lee Harrel, Jr., Stuart Storey and Don Walsh. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Heard, Joe Heard, Courtney Reed, and Dr. Wickliff Lawrence.
