Richard Heard, Winn Banker, Dies Friday

Funeral services for Richard C. Heard, 53, president of the Bank of Winnfield,
were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with the
Rev. J. C. Skinner officiating.  Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery
under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mr. Heard died Friday, May 12, 1972 at 7:30 a.m. in the emergency room of
Winnfield General Hospital following an apparent heart attack.

He was a native of Winnfield and a veteran of World War II.  He was also an
alumnus of Louisiana State University and a member of the First Methodist
Church where he served as church treasurer and a member of the board.  He was
past treasurer of the Louisiana Bankers Association and had served as
president of the Bank of Winnfield since 1956.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Betty Heard of Winnfield; three sons,
Richard C. Heard and Robert P. Heard, both of Winnfield and Stephen Heard of
New Orleans; his mother, Mrs. J. P. Heard, Sr., of Winnfield; two brothers, H.
R. Heard of Winnfield and J. R. Heard, Jr., of Baton Rouge; one sister, Mrs.
Hubert N. Wax of Baton Rouge; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Jim Russell, Marvin Carroway, G. W. Jones, Bob Baker, T.
H. Harrel, Sr., and L. L. Brewton, Sr.
