Funeral services were conducted June 18 by Rev. C. R. McCartney, assisted by Rev. Jack Melder. Interment was in the Zion Cemetery. Aunt Bettie, as everyone knew her, was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church. She was loved by all who knew her. The oldest citizen in the community, Aunt Bettie always received the bouquet for the oldest mother at the church on Mother's Day. She is survived by two sons, Hoyt and Odis Hemphill, Beulah community; one daughter, Willie Belle, of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Howard and Cody Hand, Winnfield, Route 2; and L. M. Hand, Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Jasper Blackshear, Rochelle, and Mrs. Mack Brown, Clarks; five grandchildren, a large number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
