C. Hemphill, 76, Is Buried At Zion Cemetery June 2 Grover C. Hemphill, 76, a retired millwright of Tremont Lumber Company, died Tuesday in a Winnfield nursing home after a long illness. He was a native of Grant Parish and a long time resident of Joyce. Fneral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 1965 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth F. Wall officiating. Burial was in the Zion Cemetery. Nephews of the deceased served as pallbearers. They were Howard Hemphill, Thomas Hemphill, Herman Hemphill, Ples Hemphill, Marshall Hemphill, and James Hemphill. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pinkie Lou Hemphill of Joyce; three sons, Harvie Lee Hemphill of Oakdale, Martin E. Hemphill of New Orleans, and Shafter E. Hemphill of Winnfield; four daughters, Mrs. Dottie Mae Pigott of Ponchatoula, Mrs. Jewel Thompson of Kenner, Mrs. Priscilla Weatherford of Joyce, and Mrs. Gloria Dawn Norred of Hodge, 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
