Walter E. Hemphill Killed In Action Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Hemphill of the Beulah Community were notified Wednesday, October 18th, that their son, Pfc. Walter E. Hemphill, had been killed in action in the Southwest Pacific. Pfc. Hemphill was on Palau Island when he was killed on September 26. On October 24, Mr. and Mrs. Hemphill were notified by the war department that another son, Pfc. Howard Hemphill had been wounded in Germany on Oct. 6. This is the second time that he has been wounded, as he received his first injuries in France soon after D-Day. Mr. and Mrs. Hemphill have three other sons in service, T-5 Herman Hemphill, stationed in Iran, Sgt. James T. Hemphill and Pfc. Earl J. Hemphill.
