Hendrix Succumbs After Long Illness William W. Hendrix, 50, a resident of Winnfield for a number of years, died enroute to a hospital Monday, April 9, following a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church, Wednesday, April 11, with the pastor, Rev. H. H. McBride, officiating. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were O. N. Reynolds, C. H. Price, Jim Carter, L. D. McConathy, Hoyt Harrington, and John Austin. A native of Ouachita Parish, Mr. Hendrix moved his family to Winnfield a number of years ago and directed the cutting and hauling of pulpwood for the Brown Paper Mill. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mittie May Hendrix, Winnfield; two sons, Marshall, U. S. Marines now in the State of Washington; Warren, Jr., U. S. Navy in the Pacific; and two daughters, Colleen and Betty Jean, of Winnfield. Surviving also are three brothers, Sgt. Hiram Hendrix, Thomasville, Ga., Henry and Vess Hendrix, of Darnell; three sisters, Mrs. Jack Talbot, Mrs. Alva Easley, and Mrs. Alton Browder of Monroe, La.
