F. Hicks Here January 31 Funeral services for Mrs. Horace F. Hicks, 60, who died January 29 in a local hospital following a short illness, were held Sunday, January 31, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home. Dr. W. L. Holcomb conducted the last rites and burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Herman Hutson, Louie Barton, Fred Barton, Neal Barton, Roy Lee Taylor, Royce Barton, and Melville Hicks. Mrs. Hicks, a native of Texas, had been a resident of Winnfield for 28 years and had been a faithful member of the First Baptist Church for that length of time also. She is survived by her husband, H. F. Hicks, Winnfield; four daughters, Mrs. Vernon Joffre of Irvin, Tex.; Mrs. Ed Denges of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. Ed Carroll of Natchitoches; and Mrs. Shelby Oakes of DeRidder; a son, John Barton Hicks of Arlington, Tex.; two brothers, D. H. and G. A. Barton, both of Apple Springs, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Womack of Diboll, Tex., Mrs. M. P. Hutson of Apple Springs, Tex., and Mrs. L. A. Taylor of Colmesnell, Tex.; and six grandchildren.
