E. Hickman, 79 James Edward Hickman, 79, of Route One, Montgomery, died at his home Christmas Day after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 27, at the Mars Hill Baptist Church and burial was in the Mars Hill Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. H. G. Montague of Laurel, Miss., officiated at the last rites. He was assisted by Mrs. Lula Wardlow. Mr. Hickman was born in Louin, Miss., September 19, 1869, and had made his home near Montgomery for the past 45 years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. J. E. Hickman; two sons, Sexton and Foster Hickman of Montgomery; six daughters, Mrs. Beulah Sloan of Nettleton, Miss.; Mrs. Lesby Slater of Livingston, Texas; Mrs. Tennie Oliver of Laurel, Miss.; Mrs. Ruth Garrett of Jackson, Miss.; Mrs. Cleo Riley of Shreveport; and Mrs. Edith Graham of Shreveport; four brothers, O. L., Oscar, Doc, and Charlie Hickman, all of Montgomery; three sisters, Mrs. Olive Barnes of Winnfield, Mrs. Elsie Addington of Montgomery, and Mrs. Mary Addington of Clarence. Pallbearers were Lillian Right, Herman Worsham, Albert Ellis, Ben Luther, Irvin Addington, and Mike Terry.
