M. Hightower Succumbs James Melton Hightower, 58, of Winnfield, died Sunday, October 7, 1973 at his residence. He was a state probation officer and the owner of Easy Finance Loan Co. Hightower was a 25 year member of the Winnfield Lions Club and a Mason and Shriner. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Louise Hightower of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. Edward Davis of Shreveport; one son, George W. "Bill" Hightower of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Hataway and Mrs. Louise McManus, both of Houston, Texas; his motehr, Mrs. George Hightower of Winnfield, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Phelps and Rev. W. R. Gage officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories under direction of Hixson Bros., Winnfield. Pallbearers were Reggie Gates, J. Elton Brewton, Quinn Brewton, C. W. Huffman, Charles B. Bice, Douglas Durrett, W. W. Labat, and James Watts.
