Hines were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Southern with the Rev. Roy Moore officiating. Burial was in New Salem Cemetery near Montgomery. Hines, 71, of Montgomery, died at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 23, 1988 in Alexandria Veterans Administration Medical Center, of a long illness. He was a logger and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the Merchant Marine and attended Verda High School. Survivors include one daughter, Monica Nutt Albright of Alexandria; two stepsons, Thomas M. Milling of Verda and Andy Milling of Franklin; five brothers, Henry Hines of Port Arthur, Texas, Heurd Hines of Caseyville, Ill., L. C. Hines of Pollock, Brian Hines of Verda and Ray Hines of Shreveport; four sisters, Evie Hines Johnette of Colfax, Verna Hines Lowe of Verda, Ruth Hines Daigrepont of Hessmer, and Leona Hines Deville of Alexandria; four grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
