Tom Hinton, 86, Pioneer Citizen Dies On Tuesday Funeral Services Held at Beech Creek Wednesday J. Tom Hinton, better known as "Uncle Tom Hinton," a life long resident of Winn Parish, died at his home at Beech Creek Tuesday night at ten o'clock, following an illness of more than a year. "Uncle Tom" lacked only a few days being 86 years old at the time of death, and up until about two years ago had been very active. He was a farmer and was prominent in the affairs of the community and parish. He had been a Mason for 59 years. During his more active days he was associated with the late Henry E. Hardtner in his reforestation plans, serving as a warded in the employ of Mr. Hardtner. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock at Beech Creek Church, of which he was a member, conducted by the Rev. Cas Crain of Olla. Mr. Hinton is survived by his widow, to whom he was married more than 52 years ago, five sons, L. B. Hinton of Sikes, Grady C. Hinton of Olla, Jerry Hinton and Dewey Hinton of Starks, and Floyd C. Hinton of Alexandria; two daughters, Mrs. Fannie Kehler of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Mrs. Posey Meyers of Olla. Pall bearers at the funeral services were W. C. Proctor, J. I. Payne, Q. T. Hardtner, G. M. Tannehill, Jules Tisdale, F. M. Smith, Ben Babcock, and Steve Babcock. (Submitted by Greggory Ellis Davies, Winnfield, Winn Parish, LA.)
