Last Rites For Mrs. W. G. Hemphill Held May 13

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie M. Hemphill, 58, who died at her home on
Route 1, Georgetown, Wednesday afternoon, May 12, 1948, were held at the Zion
Baptist Church Thursday at 3 p.m., with the Rev. H. Gilmore of Pollock
officiating.  Burial was in the Zion Cemetery under direction of Hixson. 
Acting as pallbearers were the six sons of the deceased.

A native of Winn Parish, where she resided her entire life, she was the
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James S. Jones.  She was a member of the
Zion Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, W. G. Hemphill; six sons, Alex and Herman of
Pineville; Earl, James P., and Howard of Winnfield, and Ples of Georgetown;
two daughters, Mrs. Frances McCartney, Trout, and Mrs. Beulah Mae Wright,
Tullos; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Bryant, Ball, La. and Mrs. Lucy Acker,
Demmon, N. M.; three brothers, J. A. Jones, Glenmora; W. T. and John Jones of
Pineville.
