N. Holmes Dies In West Monroe Rev. L. N. Holmes, age 70 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ernest Goodwin, in West Monroe last Monday, after an illness of several months. Rev. Holmes was one among the most prominent Baptist ministers in North Louisiana, having preached for nearly forty years. He was born in Ward Two, Winn Parish, in 1856, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Holmes and when a young man was a teacher in the schools of this state. He was married to Missouri Smith, who died about three months preceding her husband. He is survived by four children: J. L. Holmes of Georgetown; Mrs. Ernest Goodwin of West Monroe; Mrs. Mabel Bryant of Downsville; Cary Holmes of West Monroe; and two brothers, J. D. Holmes of Winnfield and H. W. Holmes of Jena, and several sisters. Interment was in West Monroe Cemetery.
