Dutiful in the guidance of her home and in rearing her children. Such was the character of my grandmother, Mrs. J. S. Hendrix, who died at her home at Jena, La., November 5, 1925, at the age of 74 years, 9 months, and 21 days. For many years she has been a member of the Baptist Church, trusting and serving in the God of all wisdom and power. She lived faithful to the end. She was the mother of eleven children, three of whom survive her. Mrs. Josephine McDow of Sikes, La., Mrs. Effie Rogers, Urania, La., and J. S. Hendrix, Jr., Jena, La. Five of her children passed on in infancy the other three reaching the age of maturity, one of them was killed at a sawmill, but I felt as the cold clods over her that grandma's troubles and sorrows are over, and that there will be a sweet reunion on that bright and beautiful shore where there will be no more sad partings and no more scalding tears shed for over loved ones. Besides her children she is survived by her husband, J. S. Hendrix, Jena, La.; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Moseley, Urania, La.; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, besides a host of friends and relatives to mourn her passing. She was laid to rest in Urania Cemetery November 7, 1925, Rev. Harper Kees conducting the services. Her granddaughter, Mrs. J. E. McCarty
