She had been bedridden about three weeks before her death, but had not been able to walk in some time, and had lost her memory. On her 100th birthday, her memory was clear and she was able to tell of early events in her life. Last rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethlehem Church of Christ with E. A. Hollis, minister of the Church of Christ of Jonesboro officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons and grandsons-in-law, John and Fred McNeil, Dawson Lambright, Lamar Stephens, Roy Mercer, and A. J. Chance. Mrs. Hogg was born near Palmida, Georgia, in 1856, and was the former Miss Martha Ann Driver. In 1871, she with her family moved from Georgia to Henderson County, Texas, where she later married Louis Dalton. She and her husband traveled a lot and covered several states, including Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma, or what was then known as Indian Territory. All of their traveling was done on horseback and covered wagon, and that usually in wagon trains so as to be safe from a possible Indian attack. After her husband's death she came back to Henderson County, Texas to live among relatives. Later she married Holland M. Hogg of Athens, Texas, and they made their home in Texas, until October, 1916, when they moved to Winn Parish. Mr. Hogg, a veteran of the Civil War, died in 1920. "Grandma" is survived by three children, Mrs. Carrie Guthrie, Mrs. Candice Lambright, and A. H. Hogg of Route Three, Winnfield. Her oldest son, John Dalton, who would have been 84 now, died in California with the past few years, as well as a daughter, Miss Estelle Hogg, who died at the family residence, Route Three, Winnfield, within the past few years. Mrs. Hogg, in addition to her three children, leaves 18 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 34 great-great grandchildren. She was a member of the Bethlehem Church of Christ.
