Holmes Thursday Morning Mrs. Ada Fletcher Holmes, wife of John D. Holmes of Winnfield, died at her home here Thursday morning, October 3, at 10 o'clock following an illness of a number of years duration. Funeral arrangements had not been made as The Enterprise went to press, however it was said that burial would be made in the Winnfield Cemetery. Born in Beech Creek community of Winn Parish, Mrs. Holmes was the daughter of the late George Fletcher and Sibbie McCarty Fletcher. In 1900 she was married to John D. Holmes, and they moved to Winnfield where they made their home and reared their family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was 70 years of age at the time of her death. Besides her husband, John D. Holmes of Winnfield, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. T. M. Boyd, of Shreveport and Mrs. C. A. Clark of Orange, Texas; three sons, Fletcher M. Holmes of Middlesboro, Ky.; Woodrow Holmes of Jonesboro; and Capltain J. D. Holmes of Shreveport. She is also survived by one brother, R. H. Fletcher of Winnfield; and three sisters, Mrs. C. M. Jarrell of Epps, La.; Mrs. C. W. Smith, Ruston; and Mrs. J. A. Vickers, Winnfield, Route Two.
