All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 20, 1955 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. Grace Holmes Succumbs; Buried In West Monroe Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Holmes, 77, who died in a local hospital were held in Monroe Sunday afternoon, with burial in the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under direction of Hixson Brothers. Pallbearers were L. L. Brewton, Sr., George Tannehill, Jack Noble, Charles Slade, Warren Taylor, George Foster, J. S. Trichel, and Bunn Beasley. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. John T. Mosley and associates of General Hospital, Dr. J. Q. Graves and officials and members of Brown Paper Mill. Mrs. Holmes was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Orange, Texas. She had resided in West Monroe for many years, but more recently had lived in Winnfield with her son. She was a native of Greencastle, Pa. Her late husband was general manager of the Brown Paper Mill in West Monroe for a number of years before his death. Only immediate survivor is a son, John L. Holmes of Winnfield, district forest manager for the Brown Paper Co. She also leaves two grandchildren, Charlotte and Shove Holmes.
