All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 9, 1958 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Georgetown Girl Killed As Deer Causes Collision A 16 year old Georgetown girl, Patsy Lee Holmes, died Friday night in an Alexandria hospital of injuries received that morning in a deer-car-truck collision in Grant Parish. The accident occurred at 8:50 a.m. Friday, about nine miles north of Pollock on U. S. 165, when a truck driven by Sylvester Edwards of Seagoville, Texas, struck an 11 point buck which ran into the highway, and skidded out of control into the path of an oncoming car driven by Ralph Ward Holmes, father of the fatally injured girl. Both drivers wee injured as well as Eddie and Jane C. Holmes, two other children of Holmes who were in his auto. They were all hospitalized in Alexandria. Patsy Lee Holmes was a junior at Georgetown High School where she was a school beauty for the past two years. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Georgetown Baptist Church, with burial in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Pineville, under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. She is survived by her parents, one sister, Jane, two brothers, Charles and Eddie, all of Georgetown.
