H. Horton Succumbs in New Orleans After Several Days Illness With Double Pneumonia Funeral services for George Harrison Horton, 28 years, who died Friday, May 20, in the Baptist Hospital, New Orleans, after several days illness with double pneumonia were held in Winnfield Sunday afternoon at 3:30. Services were conducted at the First Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. A. H. Cullen, in charge. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. The deceased is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Horton of Winnfield. He was born at Jonesboro, Jackson Parish, May 14, 1903, where he lived until young manhood. He became an employee of the Postal Telegraph Company about eight years ago, working in Shreveport, Alexandria, and New Orleans. He was married to Miss B. Eskey, of Shreveport, in 1924. For the past several years they have been residing in New Orleans. The deceased was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport. He is survived by his wife, parents, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. N. L. Horton and Mrs. Warren Curry, of Winnfield; Jack Horton of Shreveport; Robert Lee Horton of Monroe, Mrs. E. E. Vail, of Birmingham, Ala.; and Mrs. Fletcher Handcock of Port Arthur, Texas. Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral services were Mr. Lemoine, Mr. Ellis, and Mr. Firmin, of Alexandria; Mrs. Eskey, Mr. and Mrs. Pearce, Oil City; Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hill, of Longview, Texas; Alvin Walsworth, J. M. Shows, Mr. and Mrs. Roswell Kelly, and Mr. Walter Crystal of Jonesboro; and Mr. Jimmie Horton of Baton Rouge.
