All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: November 23, 1961 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Mrs. Ella House Succumbs Nov. 16 To Long Illness Mrs. Ella House, 72, of Winnfield, widow of the late John House, towerman for many years, died in a local hospital at 2:30 p.m. November 16 following a long illness. She was the former Miss Ella Carpenter and was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish. Last rites were conducted at the New Hope Church November 17 at 2:30 p.m. with the Reverends Dale Durrand, E. B. Barton, and Willie James officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Elvy Carpenter, Clayton White, Belton Carpenter, Ellis Stewart, Charles Creel, and Henry Allen Kornegay. She is survived by five sons, O. O. House, Winnfield, Hardy House, Tyler, Texas, M. W. House, Shreveport, O. C. House, Ferriday, and Edward M. House, Minden; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Gremillion, Alexandria; four brothers, J. S. Cockerham, R. C. Carpenter, L. C. Carpenter, and M. C. Carpenter, all of Winnfield; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
