Last Rites Held June 28 For Mrs. Jennie Howard, 92

Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Howard, 92, one of Winn Parish's oldest
citizens, were held at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 28,
with the Rev. Earnest Evans and Rev. D. W. McDaniel officiating.  Interment
was in Bethlehem Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Mrs. Howard, better known as "Grandma" to her many friends and relatives, died
in a Shreveport hospital about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday as the result of injuries
sustained in a fall at her home Sunday afternoon.  She suffered a broken hip.

Mrs. Howard was born in Grant Parish June 22, 1858, and had made her home all
her life in Grant and Winn Parishes.  For several years, she made her home
with her son, R. E. Howard in Wren Acres.  She was a member of the Methodist
Church.

Surviving are two sons, R. E. Howard and E. B. Howard, both of Winnfield;
eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers, all grandsons of Mrs. Howard, were Bill Howard, R. D. Howard,
Hubert Howard, Edward Howard, Hubert Howard, Edward Howard, Jr., W. S. Carter,
Jr., and Willie Burnum.
