B. Howard Succumbs After A Long Illness Mrs. E. B. Howard, age 55, passed away at her home here Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1954, after an illness of several years. Funeral services were conducted at the home and at the Bethlehem Church near Calvin, with burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Officiating were the Rev. Dr. H. L. Holcomb, Rev. Ernest Evans, Rev. W. D. McDaniels, and Rev. L. H. Hickman. Pallbearers were Charles Hughes, Harold Brewton, Claudell O'Bryan, Sherman Roberts, Stanley Bass, and Hubert Howard. A native of Goldonna, Mrs. Howard was the former Miss Maude Carroway, niece of the late Supt. T. H. Harris, superintendent of schools in Louisiana for many years. She is the first of 14 children in her mother's family to pass away. Her mother, Mrs. W. A. Harris, 88, is a resident of Goldonna. Mrs. Howard is also survived by her husband, E. B. Howard, Sr., of Winnfield; three sons, Edward B., Jr., of Shreveport, Max of LSU, Baton Rouge, and Jimmie of NSC, Natchitoches, and one daughter, Mrs. Willie Burnum of near Calvin. Brothers and sisters who survive are Mrs. Mattie Brewton, Ernest Harris, Mrs. Lillie Montgomery, Mrs. Lula Easley, Miss Vivian Harris, Claude Haris, and Walter Harris, all of Goldonna; Mrs. Laura McFarland, of Alexandria; Homer Harris of Baton Rouge; Earl and Austin Harris of Cottonport; Mrs. Audry Oliphant of Houston; and Cecil Harris of Mountainhome, Ark. Mrs. Howard had been a resident of Winnfield for almost 21 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
