E. Jarnagin about 10:15 Thursday night, February 25, caused apparently from apoplexy. Howell ate a light supper, going to his room at 9:15, relaxing across his bed before undressing, had removed his overalls, turned on the water in the hall lavatory which was still running when discovered, had walked to the hall, and fell along side the wall. James Bundrick, a fellow roomer, stumbled over his lifeless body when he started to go retire at 10:15. Coroner J. F. Faith pronounced Howell's death caused from apoplexy. The body was conveyed to Minden, Friday morning and funeral services were held Saturday morning with interment in the Minden Cemetery. Howell had been employed by the L. & A. for twenty three years, was well known in Winnfield, Alexandria, and over the entire lines of the railroad, especially in railroad circles where he took an active leading part in the brotherhood organization. He is survived by his wife, who was before her marriage Bettie Teddlie, well known here, and two children, Ann and Elizabeth, his mother and several sisters and brothers.
