All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: November 27, 1941 Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites Held For John Thomas Harlan Friday Former Winnfield Citizen Dies Suddenly In Alexandria Last rites for John Thomas Harlan, aged 51, who died enroute to an Alexandria clinic Thursday, November 20, 1941, at 8:30 p.m., were held in Winnfield Friday afternoon with the Rev. H. H. McBride, the Rev. H. B. Hysell, the Rev. Alwin Stokes of Winnfield and the Rev. Taylor of Alexandria officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Mr. Harlan, a native of the Wheeling community and a former merchant of Winnfield had been residing in Alexandria for the past six years. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge and at the time of his death was manager of the Pearson Furniture Company in Alexandria. Surviving are his widow, two sons, Howard Thomas and Jack, and one daughter, Hallette, all of Alexandria; two brothers, Eugene of Verda and Bill of Shreveport; and three sisters, Mrs. Hugh Mercer of Winnfield, Mrs. William Fagley of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Edna McLemore of Shreveport; and one grandchild.
