Harlan Services for Willard E. Harlan were held at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating, assisted by Dr. Bill Stowell of Shreveport, La., Rev. Jack Allbritton of Purvis, Mississippi, Rev. Kit Hathorn of Starks, La., and Dr. Dennis Swanberg of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Masonic graveside services were conducted in Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Edmonds. Harlan, 58, of Winnfield, died Wednesday morning, June 8, 1988, in his residence of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was an independent insurance agent in Winnfield since 1954 and was a former Winn Parish Police Juror. Harlan was a retired captain of the Louisiana National Guard and company commander of the Winn Parish unit. He was a 32nd degree mason and past master of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Harlan of Winnfield; two sons, Benjamin Harlan of Shreveport and Paul Harlan of Winnfield; one daughter, Laura Harlan of Alexandria; one sister, Mildred Harlan Abraham of Lake Charles and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Billy Cloy, Jimmy Dickerson, William Cruse, James Cody Cummings, Kiah Beville, and Tucker Watts.
