L. Horton Held Tuesday Succumbs in Alexandria From Pneumonia Attack B. L. Horton, aged 73 years, 11 months, and 27 days, died in Alexandria, La., Tuesday morning, March 3, 1936, following an attack of pneumonia. He had been in ill health for the past year. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the First Methodist Church. The pastor, Rev. K. W. Dodson was assisted by Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister, and the Rev. S. A. Seegars, from Rayne, La. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were P. K. Abel, W. T. Norman, C. L. Shell, Matt Milam, R. W. Oglesby, and Dr. F. C. Wren. Mr. Horton was born in Chesterfield County, S. C. He had been a resident of Louisiana for the past 43 years, living in Claiborne and Jackson Parishes a number of years before coming to Winnfield. He was well known over the parish for his friendliness and his jovial disposition. His wife died here two years ago and since that time he had made his home with his children. During the past year he had been with his daughter in Port Arthur, Texas. He was the last member of a family of sixteen children. Surviving are three sons and three daughters, N. L. Horton and Mrs. Warren Curry of Winnfield, Jack Horton of Shreveport, Robert Lee Horton of Monroe, Mrs. Fletcher Hancock of Port Arthur, Texas, and Mrs. E. E. Vail of Birmingham, Alabama.
