J. N. Huffman, 92, Is Claimed By Death October 17

Prominent Real Estate Owner, Was Native of Union Parish

J. N. Huffman, 92, died at his home here Friday, October 17, following a long
illness.

The deceased was born in Union Parish March 15, 1849.  In 1901 he moved
his family to Winnfield and following the coming of the Arkansas Southern
Railroad, he was active for many years in the business affairs of the growing
community.  He was engaged in the mercantile, hotel, and real estate business
during his active years.  At his death he still owned considerable real estate
holdings here, at El Dorado, Ark., and in Union Parish.

Funeral services, held at the Huffman home Saturday afternoon, were conducted
by Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, followed by interment
in the Winnfield Cemetery under the direction of the Southern Funeral Home.

He is survived by five daughters.  His wife and only son, Tom Huffman,
preceded him in death.  The surviving daughters are Mrs. Ava Crutchfield, El
Dorado, Ark.; Mrs. A. R. Lindsey, Winnfield; Mrs. O. M. Hawk, El Dorado, Ark.;
Mrs. C. E. Thompson, Monroe; and Mrs. Joe R. Heard, Hope, Ark.
