Earl Hughes Held Saturday AM Charles Earl Hughes, age 56, native of Winn Parish and former resident of Winnfield, died in a Jonesboro hospital last Friday morning about 5 o'clock following a heart attack. Born in the Wheeling Community the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hughes, the deceased had made his home in Hodge for the past 18 years. Prior to that time he was a resident of Winnfield. At the time of his death he was shipping clerk for the Southern Advance Bag and Paper Company at Hodge. Funeral services were held at Hodge Baptist Church Saturday morning with the Rev. H. C. Holloway officiating and interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Montgomery. Survivors include his widow, the former Eva Jenkins, three sons, Charles Earl Hughes, Jr., Carthage, Texas; Edward Hughes, Hodge; and Billy Joe Hughes, Lake Charles; one sister, Mrs. Jesse Boyett, Winnfield; two brothers, J. W. Hughes, Baton Rouge, and Hershel Hughes, Montgomery; and four grandchildren.
