John E. Hughes of Grant Parish Dies in Shreveport

Funeral services were held for John Edgar Hughes, of Black Creek Community,
Wednesday, April 26, at Hebron Church, in Grant Parish.

Hughes, a native of Winn Parish, died early Tuesday morning in Shreveport
after an appendicitis operation and pneumonia.

He was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church.  Services were conducted by Bro.
Sherwood, pastor; interment was in the Hebron Cemetery.

He is survived by seven daughters, Jean Hughes, Lois Hughes, Avice Hughes,
Essie Mae Hughes, of Bastrop, Ethel Hughes, Mrs. Faircloth, Mrs. Brister; two
sons, Joseph Hughes of Black Creek and Jim Bob Hughes of Bastrop; one sister,
Mrs. R. O. Pace of Martin, Miss.; seven brothers, Hardy Hughes of Stephens,
Ark.; Walter Hughes and Silas Hughes of Dodson; Ben Hughes of Montgomery;
Ernest Hughes of Clayton; Frank Hughes of Bastrop; Rev. Otto Hughes of
Winnfield.
