The 85 year old Mrs. Hunt, who was born in Winn Parish, was the last survivor of the children of Huey Pierce Long, Sr., and Caledonia Tison Long. She was the sister of the late Governor and U. S. Senator Huey P. Long, the late Governor and Congressman-elect Earl K. Long, the late Congressman George Shannon Long, and Shreveport Attorney Julius T. Long, and Mrs. Charlotte Long Davis of Ruston. She was the aunt of Russell B. Long who is presently U. S. Senator from Louisiana. Mrs. Hunt was the widow of Stewart Smoker Hunt who was well known throughout his lifetime with the lumber industry. She was also preceded in death in 1965 by her daughter, Martha. Before her marriage, she taught school in Shreveport, and she had been very active in civic, religious, and cultural affairs during her years in Ruston. Survivors are her son, John Smoker Hunt, a practicing attorney in Monroe and former member of the Louisiana Public Service Commission, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 1985 at the Episcopal Church of Redeemer with interment in Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston. Pallbearers were James Long, Russell B. Long, Palmer Long, Davis Hunt, Alex T. Hunt, Jr., John Edward Ducournau, Thomas M. Hunt, Robert Davis Parrott, William Davis Green, John Kemp Parrott, and Carson R. Reed III.
