Rev. DeVoe Byrd was in charge of the services and burial was under direction of Riser Funeral Home. The deceased was killed instantly on July 18th by a log which fell from his truck while he was unloading at the Urania Lumber Company saw mill. He was a member of the Shady Grove Church and a willing worker in all religious services, serving as Sunday School teacher and quiz leader of the B. T. U. until he moved to Urania recently. The deceased leaves his wife, the former Miss Della Johnson of Sikes, four daughters, Mildred, Arty, Gladys, and Nellie and one son, James Hugh; three brothers, 2nd Lt. John Hyatt of Florida, Alvin Hyatt, who is serving somewhere in France, and Joe Hyatt of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Coates of Columbia and his father, Frank Hyatt, Sr., of Columbia.
