Hyde Dies In Accident; Rites Held Sun. A 55 year old man, Myrtis A. Hyde, of Winnfield, was killed Friday night, October 9, 1970, in a one-car accident on La. Hwy. 34 in Grant Parish. The accident occurred at 5 p.m. just over the Winn-Grant parish line. According to authorities, the car veered off the right side of the road, hit a culvert and flipped over. Hyde was alone in the car and was killed instantly. Mr. Hyde was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Sardis Baptist Church with the Rev. E. B. Barton and Rev. Jack Jones officiating. Burial was in the Sardis Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Angie Hyde of Winnfield; two sons, Gene Hyde and Travis Hyde, both of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Doretha Walker and Mrs. Nelda Atkins, both of Winnfield; one brother, George Hyde of Bell, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Clara Hutchings of Mansfield, and seven grandchildren.
