Hyde Dies At His Home in Monroe Feb. 7 Funeral Services Conducted in Winnfield Friday Newton Marion Hyde, native of Winn Parish, died at his home in Monroe, February 7, 1935, following an illness of three week's duration. Funeral services were conducted at the First Methodist Church in Winnfield, Friday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. O. L. Tucker in charge, assisted by two other local ministers, Rev. Alwin Stokes and Rev. B. C. Land. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Mayor R. W. Buce, B. L. Anderson, Perry Abel, Judge R. W. Oglesby, C. F. Walsworth, and John L. Calhoun. Mr. Hyde was born in Montgomery, La., July 23, 1858. He lived the greater portion of his life in Winnfield, leaving twelve years ago to reside in Monroe. He was married to Miss Betty Brewer of Grant Parish, January 25, 1883, to which union twelve children were born, all of whom survive except one. This wife preceded him in death. The surviving sons and daughters are: Mrs. W. C. Colvin, Winnfield; E. Q. Hyde, Monroe; Mrs. L. D. Wardlow, Montgomery; H. H. Hyde, Longview, Texas; A. R. Hyde, Longleaf; W. F. Hyde, B. W. Hyde, Crawford L. Hyde, O. E. Hyde, Monroe; R. C. Hyde, Winnfield; C. M. Hyde, Winnsboro; and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Lavinia Smith and Mrs. M. M. Fisher, Winnfield; Albert Hyde of Zwolle, and Frank Hyde of Montgomery. On December 17, 1932 Mr. Hyde was married to Mrs. Emma Oliver of Monroe, who also survives him. Mr. Hyde was a devout member of the Protestant Methodist Church and the Woodmen of the World.
