All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: August 28, 1947 Winn Parish Enterprise Funeral Services For Eugene Hyde To Be Held Friday Orrie Eugene Hyde, Sr., Baton Rouge resident who was born and reared in Winnfield, died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds in Baton Rouge General Hospital on Wednesday, August 27. A verdict of suicide was returned by the Coroner's Jury after investigation. Mr. Hyde was found in his Baton Rouge home by his niece, Mrs. Frank Reitzel, and his wife, who heard the report of the gun. He died a short time later at the hospital. His death was caused by a .20 gauge shotgun blast which struck him in the head. He had been in ill health for three years. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church here with the Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating. Rev. Stokes will be assisted by Rev. Fred S. Flurry and Rev. Calvin Robinson. Interment will follow in the Winnfield Cemetery. Mr. Hyde is survived by his widow, three children, O. E. Hyde, Jr., Elaine Hyde, and Carolyn Hyde; four brothers, E. Q. Hyde of Monroe, W. F. Hyde Clyde M. Hyde, and Crawford L. Hyde, of Shreveport; and one sister, Mrs. W. C. Colvin, Sr., of Winnfield. Mr. Hyde, who was 45 years of age at the time of his death, was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. N. M. Hyde of Winnfield. He was a member of the Church of God in Baton Rouge.
