John G. Higgs, Sr., Winn Native, Dies December 30

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. last Wednesday in the chapel of First
National Funeral Home, for John G. Higgs, Sr., age 73, of Winnsboro, who died
on Sunday, December 27, 1970, after a brief illness.

Services were conducted by Rev. Robert Miller and Rev. Harrison Cockerham, and
burial was in Providence Memorial Park.

He was a native of Winn Parish.

Survivors are his widow, one son, John G. Higgs, Jr. of Coushatta; two
daughters, Mrs. Charles Ray Price of Winnsboro and Mrs. Harry Knight, of
Portland, Ore.; five brothers, Enos Higgs, Houston Higgs, Ellis Higgs, and
Wallace Higgs, all of Dodson, and Ashley Higgs of Winnfield; four sisters,
Mrs. Veda Barnes, Mrs. Clonie Box, Mrs. Verda Cockerham, and Mrs. Henrietta
Coonce, all of Dodson; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and
several nieces and nephews.
