Harlan Held Here Friday Funeral services for John Thomas Harlan, a former resident of Winnfield who died in Alexandria last Thursday, were completed here Friday afternoon at four o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J. A. Taylor, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Alexandria assisted by the three local pastors, the Rev. Alwin Stokes, the Rev. H. H. McBride, and the Rev. H. B. Hysell. The deceased while a resident of Winnfield was engaged in the tile business and later moved to Alexandria where he was employed by a furniture store at the time of his death. The deceased was born in this parish near Calvin. Later, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Harlan, moved to the Wheeling Community. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Deceased is survived by his widow, two sons, Howard Thomas Harlan and Jack Harlan; one daughter, Miss Halette Harlan of Alexandria; two brothers, Eugene Harlan of Verda and Bill Harlan of Shreveport; three sisters, Mrs. P. Hugh Mercer of Winnfield, Mrs. William F. Fagley of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. W. H. McLemore of Shreveport.
