Mrs. E. R. Hammons Succumbs; Funeral Set For Friday

Mrs. Lucy Hammons, 63, died in a Winnfield hospital at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, May
31, after a lengthy illness.  She resided on the Sikes road between Hudson and
Sikes, and was a member of the Harmony Grove Baptist Church of Gaars Mill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at the Harmony Grove
Church with the Rev. Louis B. Williams and the Rev. Glen Griffin officiating. 
Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral
Home.  Nephews will act as pallbearers.

The remains will be at the family home until time for the funeral.

Surviving are her husband, Ernest R. Hammons of Sikes Road; two daughters,
Mrs. Arvis Jordan of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Marjorie McAfee of Houston,
Texas; two sons, Lee Hammons, Winnfield and James Hammons of Texas City; three
brothers, Finis Murphy, Patterson, La., Claude Murphy of Dodson, and Robert
Murphy of Jonesboro; three sisters, Mrs. Netta Mize of St. Joseph, La., Mrs.
Velma Hammons of New Orleans, and Mrs. Ellie Greer of Wyatt, La.
