THE WINNFIELD-NEWS AMERICAN Friday, March 11, 1938 Injuries From Fall Are Fatal to Mrs. Palestine Hodge Funeral Services Held At Cypress Creek Saturday March 5th Mrs. Palestine Hodge, age 76, died at her home at Calvin last Friday as a result of injuries received in a fall about five weeks ago. She was one of the best known and best beloved citizens of Ward 8. Funeral services were held last Saturday at Cypress Creek with the Rev. Rufus Kitchenham officiating and interment was made in the Cypress Creek church cemetery. She was a member of the Bethlehem church. She is survived by nine children, six daughters, Mrs. Maggie Cockerham, Dodson, Mrs. Gertrude Rudd, Mrs. Mattie Carpenter, Calvin, Mrs. Mollie Carpenter, Chestnut, three sons, Zack and Wise Hodge of Calvin and Arthur Hodge of Winnfield, two sisters, Mrs. Mose Blake, Goldonna, Mrs. Hattie Cockerham of Texas, and one brother, Gordie Box, Powhatan, 36 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
