Herring Dies of Apparent Heart Attack Funeral services for Ray R. Herring, 60, of Jena, were held at 3 p.m. January 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jena with Father Daniel Walsh and Father John Franklin officiating. Burial was in Nolley Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Herring was the son of the late A. and Martha Erskins Herring who lived in Hebron community for many years before moving to Jena. Mr. Herring died Monday, January 15, 1973 at Sikes of an apparent heart attack. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Evelyn Knott Herring of Jena; tso sons, Warren J. Herring of Port Lavaca, Tex., and Gerald R. Herring of Houston, Tex.; one brother, Burl Herring of Alexandria; three sisters, Mrs. Brobia Mayes of Texas City, Tex., Mrs. Joyce Willis of Jena, and Mrs. Marie Bordelon of Alexandria; and two grandchildren.
