All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 7, 1929 Winn Parish Enterprise Funeral Services Held Sunday Afternoon For Miss Vert Iler Funeral services for Miss Verta Iler who died in the Baptist sanitarium, Alexandria, 2 o'clock Saturday morning, February 2, were held Sunday afternoon, 2 o'clock, at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. S. B. Williams, pastor, conducted the services, assisted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes, of Ferriday, and the Rev. C. C. Wier and the Rev. A. H. Cullen. The remains were interred in the Winnfield Cemetery. A large gathering of friends and relatives attended the last rites. Miss Iler was a native of Tennessee, and came to Winnfield with her family in 1911. For nine years she was stenographer and secretary in the office of Judge Oglesby, and later in the abstract office of P. K. Abel. For some weeks she was failing in health, and was carried to the Baptist sanitarium where all that was possible was done to save her life, but to no avail. Miss Iler was beloved by all who knew her. She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church, and for many years secretary of the Presbyterian Sunday school at Winnfield, which duties she performed until confined to her bed by illness. The deceased leaves to mourn her passing her mother, Mrs. Ella McAnnally, of Winnfield; and aunt, Mrs. C. A. Baldridge of Alexandria; three half-sisters, Mrs. Keith Jones, New York City; Mrs. Hollace Thompson, Winnfield; and Miss Wallace McAnnally, of Winnfield; also two step-sisters, Mrs. E. J. Johnson of Hot Springs, Ark., and Mrs. W. E. Patrick, of McGee, Ark., and one step- brother, Claud McAnnally, of Wink, Texas. Her father, deceased, was Dr. J. R. Iler, a native of Kentucky.
