Curtis Allen Jones



Funeral services for Curtis Allen Jones, 82, of Carthage, Texas, and a

native of Atlanta, Louisiana, were held Tuesday, September 24, 1996 at

11:00 a.m. at the Jimerson Funeral Home Chapel, Carthage, Texas with the

Rev. Dale Gary officiating.  Burial followed in the Oddfellows Cemetery,

Carthage.  Mr. Jones died September 21, 1996 in Willis-Knighton Hospital,

Shreveport, LA, following a brief illness.



Survivors include on [one] son, Sammy Allen Jones of Pasadena, Texas; one

daughter, James Faye Scheel of Houston, Texas; three brothers, C.W. “Jack”

Jones of Winnfield, Louisiana, Raymond Jones of Jonesboro, Louisiana, and

Ardis Jones of Jackson, Mississippi; six grandchildren, two

great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Sartor Jones, a daughter, Cathey

[Cathy] Renee Jones, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus T. Jones of Atlanta,

La. and three brothers, Wesley Jones, Archie Jones and Dr. E. Carl Jones.



Attending the service from Winnfield were Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Jones, Paula

Jones, Mrs. Edna Ates, and Mrs. Ann Chelette.



[Submitter’s note:  Curtis has a son by a prior marriage, Curtis Michael

Jones, born 1943 in Olympia, Washington, with whom the family has lost

contact, but would like to locate.  He was also preceded in death by infant

brother, Buddie Jones.]
