All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: December 3, 1980 Winn Parish Enterprise Ardis "Nub" Jackson Funeral services for Ardis Dalton Jackson, 74, of Baton Rouge, La., were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 1980 in the Chapel of Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Baton Rouge. The religious services were conducted by Dr. Woodrow Hearn and the Reverend Richard White. Entombment was in Green Oaks Memorial Park Mausoleum. Ardis "Nub" Jackson was a native of Winnfield and a resident of Baton Rouge where he had been an employee of the Office of the State of Louisiana Department of Highways since 1929, where he was an assistant director when he retired. He was also a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, a 25 year member of the State Board of Examiners for Professional Engineers and Surveyors, a member of the La. Engineering Society, American Association of State Highway Officials, and the Highway Engineering Association. He was past president and trustee of the La. State Employees Retirement System. He attended La. Tech University and was a recipient of the Dunbar Civil Service Award for outstanding service. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Willie Eleanor "Bill" Strain Jackson; a son, James Ardis Jackson of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Mrs. Herbert C. Smith of Houston, Texas, Mrs. H. L. DeBray and Mrs. Maxwell Crowe, both of Winnfield; and two grandchildren. Among those from Winnfield attending the funeral of Mr. Jackson were Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell T. Crowe and Mrs. H. L. DeBray, accompanied by Miss Susan Crowe of Monroe. Also present were Mrs. Shirley G. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Shell and Mr. and Mrs. John G. Jackson. The group met a large number of former Winnfield residents who also attended Mr. Jackson's funeral.
