Jackson, 95, Confederate Vet Buried Sunday Former Assessor of Winn Parish and Constable, Ward Five, Dies In New Orleans Funeral services for R. L. Jackson, 95 years old, who succumbed Friday night in a New Orleans hospital, were held at his former home in St. Maurice Sunday. The deceased is survived by two daughters and two sons, Mrs. B. C. Dean, Houston, Texas, and Mrs. A. N. Ducote, Saint Francisville, W. R. Jackson of Jonesboro, and Hardy Jackson of St. Francisville. He was a brother in law of Mrs. C. H. Sutton, of Winnfield, his wife, now deceased was the former Miss Clairissa Strong of St. Maurice. Mr. Jackson was a Confederate veteran, a member of the David Pierson Camp. At one time he was assessor of Winn Parish. He also held various other offices such as constable and justice of the peace during his lifetime, taking an active part in all public affairs.
