Jacobs, 28, a fireman of Little Rock, Ark., son of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Jacobs of the Gaars Mill Community, was killed while fighting a four-alarm fire in downtown Little Rock early Saturday morning, January 15, 1972. One other fireman was killed and seven others were injured. Jerry was killed when a brick wall collapsed while fireman were battling the blaze in a three story building. Officials said Jacobs was operating a ladder truck when the wall collapsed. Jacobs stayed at the controls, moving a man on the end of the ladder to safety as the wall was collapsing. Funeral services for Jerry Jacobs were at 2:00 p.m. with burial in the Salem Cemetery at Eros. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Anne Dixon Jacobs; a son, Jery Joseph Jacobs, Jr. both of Little Rock; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Jacobs of Dodson; five sisters, Mrs. Linwood Cooper of Sibley, Tex., Mrs. Johnny Ray Barber of Joyce, Mrs. Jerry Holden, Misses Diane and Tammy Jacobs of Dodson; three brothers, Barry and Tony Jacobs of Dodson, and Terry Jacobs of Sibley, Tex.
