E. James Former Winn Resident Dies Secretary of James Family Association Succumbs In Shreveport Dr. D. E. James, 69, of Holly Springs, Arkansas, died at a Shreveport sanitarium Thursday, July 30th, after a long illness. Funeral services were held at the Holly Springs Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. O. C. Robinson officiating. Burial was in the Holly Springs Cemetery. Dr. James moved to Arkansas from Winnfield about 25 years ago. Before that time he served as a member of the Louisiana Legislature for four years. He had practiced in Holly Springs for 15 years. Dr. James visited Winn Parish each summer when he attended the annual reunion of the James family, an organization composed of several hundred members of the family. He was secretary and active presiding officer of the association. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ira James of Holly Springs, four daughters, Mrs. Julia Taylor, Mrs. S. O. Williams, of Holly Springs; Mrs. Tressie Brumley of Goldonna; Mrs. Essie Dickinson of Camden; one son, G. K. James of Holly Springs; and several grandchildren.
