Afternoon Prominent In Affairs of Winn Parish; Victim of Long Illness A. B. Jarnagin, prominent citizen and businessman of Winnfield, who died in Alexandria Sunday after a long illness was buried in the Winnfield Cemetery Monday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 o'clock at the Baptist Church by Rev. F. W. Tinnin of Shreveport. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Jarnagin of Springhill, La., was born March 19, 1890, at Lewisville, Ark., being at the time of his death 39 years of age. Mr. Jarnagin was for more than ten years manager of the Hicks Wholesale Company at this point and prior to that time was engaged in the retail grocery business. In June, 1927, he acquired ownership of the Clarence Saunders store in Winnfield and since that time had been actively engaged in the management of that business. On June 2, 1914, Mr. Jarnagin was married to Miss Bertha Scott of Hope, La., to which union was born one child, A. B. Jarnagin, Jr. Immediate relatives surviving his death are: his wife, and little son, Mrs. A. B. Jarnagin and A. B. Jarnigan, Jr., of Winnfield; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Jarnagin of Springhill, La.; brother, Garfield Jarnagin of Rayville, La.; sister, Mrs. J. L. Parker of Springhill, La.; and a number of other near relatives. The deceased was a member of the Masonic fraternity, and was a loyal and consistent member of the Baptist Church in Winnfield, having served that institution as a deacon for a numer ob years prior to his death. His life as a Christian and citizen endeared him to the host of people who knew him. His community has lost a leader, the parish, state, and nation a citizen, the church a loyal member, and his family a wise and loving counselor. Out of town relatives attending the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Jarnagin, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. Omar Machen, Morris and Preston Parker, and Himmie Jarnagin of Springhill; Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Jarnagin of Rayville; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Scott of Hope, La.; Dr. J. W. Scott of Rochelle; Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Scott of Pollock; Lawrence Scott of Bastrop; Dr. J. E. Scott of Shreveport, and L. F. Scott of Hope, La.
